About Farnley and Wortley
Farnley and Wortley is one of the larger electoral Wards making up Leeds City Council. It does not have its own shopping centre or High Street and is made up of a number of small Villages' and estates, each with its own separate identity, including the communities of Gamble Hill, the Kirkdales, Farnley and New Farnley, Armley Heights and Lower and Upper Wortley.
Despite being primarily an Inner City area there are at least nine farms in the ward as well as large stretches of open countryside. We also have Western Flats Park, Wortley Recreation Ground and Farnley Park in the ward. There are 7 primary schools and now two High Schools serving the area, with children also travelling to other schools in Leeds.
There are also around 20 Public Houses and clubs in and just around our area.
People who live in Farnley and Wortley tend to work in the City Centre and in the large number of small businesses in the area, we also have a high proportion of self-employed people.
